Community Appointment Transportation Service (C.A.T.S.):
CATS provides Bard students with confidential transportation to scheduled off-campus health appointments, free of charge. CATS will run from 9am-6pm M-F with 2 shifts (9-1:30 and 1:30-6).
Positions under this service:
Driver
- Pay is comprised of a 2 hour base wage for each shift and additional pay based on driving time which varies per shift.
Emergency Driver (E-Driver):
Department: E-Driver (Emergency Driving)
Emergency Driving safely transports Bard students to emergency medical facilities within a 10 mile radius of Bard College, free of charge. E-Driving is a 24/7 department that provides transportation for students in case of emergencies.

Night Rides:
Night Rides safely transports Bard students only between Bard’s main campus locations, free of charge. The service runs from 9pm-1am 7 days a week.

Tivoli And Red Hook Transportation (T.A.R.T.):
TART safely transports Bard students back to Bard’s campus from nearby Tivoli and Red Hook, free of charge. TART runs from 11 PM – 2 AM on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays during the semester.

Driving Service Position Descriptions:
- Driver (All Services):
As a Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from their respective destinations (based on the service description). You are responsible for ensuring the safety of yourself and the student(s) as well as the state of the vehicle. There may not be any calls, but you are still required to be attentive and available during your shift.- In order to qualify for this position, you must be/become a CERTIFIED BARD DRIVER and registered with Bard Transportation. If you are interested in becoming a certified driver contact Bard Transportation or [email protected]. SRG will reimburse for the required defensive driving class when a driver becomes certified.
- Dispatcher (Night Rides and TART):
As a Dispatcher, you will be responsible for answering and recording all calls that come in for rides each shift. You are also responsible for reporting these calls in the order they come to the driver on duty. There may not be any calls, but you are still required to be attentive and available during your shift.
- Navigator (TART):
As a Navigator, you will be responsible for assisting the driver in navigation, keeping track of people, and staying attentive. The TART car is an 11 passenger van so the job of a navigator is to help take the load off of the diver. There may not be any calls, but you are still required to be attentive and available during your shift.
Basics of Services: Space Services
Gilson Place:
Gilson Place is a space created and managed by students of color at Bard College. Gilson Place will serve to provide students coming from marginalized racial backgrounds a safe space to program, congregate, learn, and simply be.
Position: Building Manager
As a building manager at Gilson Place, you and the team of managers are in charge of all things related to building upkeep, maintenance, and space reservations. In addition to this you are responsible for making sure that people are comfortable with the space and that the integrity is upheld through all events and happenings.
Position: OCEAN Leader
If you are chosen to be a OCEAN Leader for Gilson Place, your responsibilities will be to communicate with all affinity clubs and bringing events, talks, and resources to the Gilson Community. This includes: encouraging the clubs to host events in the space, keeping track of how clubs are using the space, and reaching out to faculty, departments, or other organizations to host events at Gilson. You will also be in charge of updating social media, as well as the promotion and archiving of events. OCEAN Leader responsibilities may be delegated amongst members. (OCEAN = Outreach, Communications, External Affairs, and Networking)
Position: Horticulture
As a member of the Horticulture department, the individual(s) who occupy this position are beholden to the following obligations: curation of plants within and around Gilson Place, collaborating with horticulture/sustainability-related departments and organizations both within and outside of the College to promote such practices, and other tasks as determined to be necessary by the discretion of the individual/the Committee.

Sawkill Coffeehouse:
Sawkill Coffeehouse is a student run on campus cafe serving coffee, espresso based drinks, tea, and an assortment of snacks. Sawkill will be open from 8am-12am M-F. We will have 2 shifts (4 hours each) 8am-12pm and then 8pm-12am.
Position: Barista
As a Barista with Sawkill you will be responsible for selling drinks and snacks to students that come in as well as keeping track of sales and transactions. You are also responsible for upholding a clean work environment and monitoring the space. There may not be anyone that comes, but you are required to be present and attentive your entire shift.

Consonants:
Consonants is a cafe(serving coffee and espresso drinks), library, and study space for students. We bring a physical platform for students to publish art/literature or sell their products for their small business. We aim to create a private space within this public institution.
Position: Barista
As a Barista, you will be in charge of setting up for the shift, ensuring a clean space, turning on and setting up the appropriate machine, and grabbing necessary items (milk and coffee beans) needed for the shift. During the shift, you will be in charge of preparing, serving, and recording coffee sold. You will make sure the space stays clean throughout the shift. At the end of the shift, you are in charge of cleaning the space, turning off and emptying appropriate machines, and reporting items we are running low on. Evening shifts will have to throw out the trash and water the plants. As we are located in the central part of campus, these shifts can get very hectic. We are looking for people who can be calm under pressure and have experience dealing with uncomfortable situations. People with some barista experience are ideal, but we will teach.
There will be two barista working each shift so these responsibilities will be divided. Both must remain in and attentive to the space throughout the shift.
