Martin Heidegger – “Interpretationen Aus Der Antiken Philosophie: Aristoteles. Metaphysik. Buch Theta. Zweistündige Vorlesung im Sommer-Semester 1931.” Typewritten manuscript, held in a folder titled: “Interpretationen aus der antiken Philosophie. Aristoteles-Metaphysik-Buch Theta. Sommersemester 1931. Heidegger. In pencil above the title of the folder is written: Logos. Wahrheit.
Hannah Arendt’s collection holds a copy of a typoscript of Heidegger’s lecture from SS 1931. It is the lecture on book theta of Aristotle’s Metaphysics. This lecture was published in 1981, edited by Heinrich Hüni. (Heidegger, Martin, Gesamtausgabe 33, Aristoteles Metaphysik q 1- 3. Vom Wesen und Wirklichkeit der Kraft, Hrsg. Heinrich Hüni Vittorio Klostermann Verlag, Frankfurt am Main, 1981. Vorlesung vom Sommersemester 1931) Hüni notes that he used two typoscripts along with Heidegger notes for editing this lecture, without specifying, who who made these transcripts of the lecture. (Arendt’s copy is very probably of one of these transcripts, Hüni describes as being very understandable.)
This is a full stenogram copy of the lecture course that runs 117 pages, mostly double-sided and double-spaced, on A9 paper, very thin.
Arendt’s underlinings and markings begin on page 86, with the discussion of 1046 b 22-24. Her underlining continues consistently through to the end. The Cover in which the typescript is stored belongs to the typescript of the lecture.
Along with this typescript Arendt preserved in the map a transcript of a conference held by Heidegger as well as a fragment of a paper (or lecture). The words “Logos” and “Wahrheit” written with pencil on the cover designate thematically these two discourses, placed in the folder. Heidegger gave the talk on “truth” on Whit-Monday 1926 for the academic reunion in Marburg. (11 pages, reconstructed from notes taken during the discourse; title of the typescript: ‘Vortrag gehalten von Prof. Martin Heidegger am Pfingstmontag 1926 in Marburg vor der Akademischen Vereinigung’). The second typescript is a “Fragment on logos in Aristotele and the foundation in the original world-projection” (title of the typescript:‘Heidegger: Fragment über den Logos bei Aristoteles und dessen Fundierung im ursprünglichen Weltentwurf’). Except the first two paragraphs, it is a 4- pages transcript from Heidegger’s second notebook on Grundbegriffe der Metaphysik, a lecture held in Wintersemester 1929/30 in Freiburg and published 1989 in Gesamtausgabe 29/30, Grundbegriffe der Metaphysik: Welt – Endlichkeit – Einsamkeit, ed. by Friedrich Wilhelm von Hermann, Klostermann Verlag, Frankfurt a. M. The content of this transcript seems to be a preliminary short version of the later last part of the lecture (GA 29/30, p.441-532)
