Booking Policies:

  • Practice room reservations are required, and students can reserve rooms under two categories:
    • Individual Practice
    • Ensemble Practice (one other person will need to be included in the reservation)
  • Students can book rooms up to 10 days in advance.
  • Each student is given a “rolling quota” of 6 hours (you can view your available balance at the top of the user menu, just above “My Agenda”). The minute a reservation passes, the time is added back to your rolling quota.
  • Students are given a “Free Booking Horizon” of 2.5 hours. “Free Booking Horizon” allows students to reserve rooms at the last minute if time opens up in their schedule, without counting towards a student’s quota.
  • The minimum reservation time is 15 minutes (if you book the same room again, a 30-minute break is required between reservations).
  • Only Conservatory spaces can be reserved through ASIMUT.
  • If available, Olin Hall and CPS can be reserved through ASIMUT 24 hours in advance. For reservations in the future, email Mary-Liz O’Neill or Marc Mancus.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Are reservations required for all rooms?

  • Yes, reservations are required for all practice spaces.

What is a rolling quota and how does it work?

  • A quota is the maximum number of hours a student can have booked at one time.  When a room booking is made, the quota decreases by the duration of the reservation. At the time the booking is completed, the quota is recovered.

What are the benefits of a rolling quota?

  • The rolling quota stops students from reserving all of the rooms for themselves and so keeps spaces available for other students to use.

Do I have to cancel my reservation if I can no longer attend?

  • While you are not required to cancel your reservation, it is highly recommended. By canceling your reservation, that time will then be added back to your quota. This will also release the space, and make it available for other students to book.

Can I end my practice session early?

  • Yes! By ending your reservation early in ASIMUT, this allows for the full amount of time to be added back to your quota, and will make the space available for other students to book.

How to book a room as a TON, Music Program, or Bard College Student?

  • TON, Music Program, or Bard College Students will still be able to book rooms by visiting the practice desk or emailing

Can I still book a room at the Practice Desk?

  • Conservatory students can only reserve rooms through ASIMUT. If you are having trouble using ASIMUT, you can go to the Practice Desk to help troubleshoot any issues.

How long can I book a room for?

  • There is no maximum amount of hours that a room can be booked for, just keep in mind your quota.

If my academic class is canceled, will that be reflected in ASIMUT?

  • NO. Academic class data is listed based on what we receive from the registrar. We have no way of knowing if your academic class was canceled.

Can I book large performance spaces on ASIMUT?

  • If there is time available, students can reserve CPS and Olin Hall for rehearsals 24 hours in advance. For recital or recording reservations, please contact Mary-Liz O’Neill or Marc Mancus.

Why was my reservation changed?

  • The ASIMUT Administrators reserve the right to adjust/cancel reservations if needed. Every effort will be made to find an alternative space for your reservation.
