Graduate Conducting Calendar

As a GCP student you have access the Graduate Conducting calendar through the google calendar app that comes with your Bard gmail account (part of the Google Workspace suite of apps). There are key advantages to using the app instead of the link listed on the Conservatory Calendars page of this website. For example:

  1. You can see your GCP events at the same time as other google calendars you have set up, for instance a personal google calendar. This can be helpful when checking for openings and overlaps in your schedule.
  2. You can generate a line-by-line list of all GCP events by entering an asterisk (*) in the app’s search box while the Graduate Conducting Calendar is the only calendar open. Similarly, you can generate a list of specific GCP events by searching that word or phrase that is contained in each of those entries, such as “Beethoven 9”.
  3. By bookmarking the results of any search, you can instantly access the most recent and accurate version of that particular schedule.

How to use the Google Calendar app for viewing the GCP Calendar:

Before arriving at Bard for your first semester you will have received an email from [email protected] (via google calendar) that says:

“Hello [email protected],
We are writing to let you know that  [email protected], has given you access to view events on the Google Calendar called “Graduate Conducting Calendar”.
After adding this calendar to your other calendars, you can hide or completely remove it whenever you want.
Add this calendar.
– The Google Calendar Team”

[Please let Lisa know if you need this email to be resent to you.]

When you click on “Add this calendar” the google calendar app will open and the Graduate Conducting Calendar will appear on your list of google calendars on the left side of the screen:

You can easily access your google calendars from your Bard gmail home screen by clicking on the grid in the upper right hand corner:

…and then clicking on the icon for the google calendar app:

[You can also access it on your phone by downloading the google calendar app from your app store.]

To get a list of specific GCP events, make sure the Graduate Conducting Calendar is open (i.e. make sure the box next to it is checked on the list of google calendars). Click on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner.

A search box will pop up near the top of the screen. Fill in the key word and hit “enter”. A list of all GCP events that contain that word will appear. Here is an example using the word “Brahms”:
