DISCLAIMER<\/strong><\/p>\n

All drivers are required, by law, to know, understand, and abide by the laws and rules of the jurisdiction they are in, regardless of point of origin or issuing agency of their license.<\/p>\n

Driving Bard vehicles is a privilege. The “Rules of the Road<\/a>” are designed to outline your responsibilities and duties as a Bard Driver. While this document is not comprehensive of all duties and obligations of the Bard Driver, you are required to comply with all terms of this agreement, whether explicit or implicit. Failure to comply with any of the terms of this document shall be considered grounds for immediate revocation of Bard College driving privileges.<\/p>\n

All terms of this agreement are subject to change without notice. Changes will be applied to all Bard Drivers, and do not exempt any driver from compliance with this agreement or regulations governing Bard Drivers.<\/p>\n

Bard College reserves the right to deny, suspend, or revoke Bard driving privileges at any time and for any reason.<\/p>\n

Bard Transportation resources will be made available for Bard faculty, staff, students on Bard sanctioned business and services only. Bard College transportation reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any legally allowable reason.<\/p>\n

Becoming\u00a0a\u00a0Bard\u00a0Driver<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

You will need to provide us with a few documents and complete some required steps to become a\u00a0Bard\u00a0Driver.**<\/p>\n

Required Documentation<\/b><\/p>\n

1)\u00a0 Current Driver’s License<\/u> -You must have a current NY Class D (or equivalent from another state) driver’s license for at least 1 year in order to apply to become a Bard Driver.\u00a0 A learner’s permit, provisional license, probationary license, junior license, or a license under Graduated Driving Law restrictions are not credited to the one year requirement.\u00a0 A suspended\u00a0license will restart the one year requirement after restoration of the full license.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0 Copy of a NYS 6 Hour Defensive Driving\/Point Reduction Course Completion Certificate<\/u> -You must have passed a New York State approved 6-hour defensive driving\/point reduction class and be in possession of the hard copy certificate from the course. This can be completed by taking a New York State approved class off campus, or online by visiting I Drive Safely<\/a>,\u00a0New York Safety Council<\/a>,\u00a0Improv Traffic School<\/a>, or\u00a0New York Safety Program<\/a>.<\/div>\n

3)\u00a0 Read and agree to our \u201cRules of the Road\u201d<\/u>\u00a0-The \u201cRules of the Road<\/a>\u201d document familiarizes you with\u00a0Bard\u00a0College specific rules of conduct.\u00a0 Our \u201cRules of the Road\u201d will be updated periodically.\u00a0 As a\u00a0Bard\u00a0Driver, you will automatically be bound by the terms of the most current document.<\/p>\n

4) \u00a0Print, complete, and sign the \u201cAuthorization\u00a0for\u00a0Driver Abstract and Rules of the Road Agreement\u201d<\/u>\u00a0 -This authorizes Bard College and its insurers to obtain your Driver Abstract and Motor Vehicle report from relevant agencies.\u00a0 The agreement on the form says that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by the conditions set forth\u00a0by Bard Transportation Services. Driving Assessment<\/b><\/div>\n

5) \u00a0Complete a\u00a0Bard\u00a0Transportation Driving Assessment<\/u>\u00a0-After you’ve provided us with the documents listed above, you will need to schedule and complete a 1-1\/2 to 2 hour Driving assessment with us.\u00a0 The evaluation will be given by one of our professional drivers, and must be completed by all\u00a0Bard\u00a0Drivers.<\/p>\n

All documents, certifications, and evaluations are required by law and\/or\u00a0Bard\u00a0College\u2019s insurance companies to drive any\u00a0Bard\u00a0College vehicle (including, but not limited to, golf carts, ATVs, passenger cars, passenger vans, leased vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment).\u00a0 Each\u00a0Driver\u00a0is responsible for keeping their license, certification, and required documentation current and up to date with\u00a0Bard\u00a0Transportation Services.\u00a0 Failure to do so will result in automatic suspension of driving privileges.<\/p>\n

**Allow at least one week after completion of all of the above steps to process your application for insurance purposes. You will not be eligible to drive a Bard vehicle for up to one week after all steps are completed and all materials are submitted to Bard Transportation Services.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
