Sound Cluster

Created in the fall of 2014, the Sound Cluster emerges out of Bard College’s Experimental Humanities initiative, generously funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The cluster brings together faculty and staff from across all divisions in a monthly discussion group to share scholarship and creative work that centers on questions of sound and technology. Group members present and critique sound-related works-in-progress, discuss scholarly work, and engage in co-teaching and collaborative projects. The panel topics and exhibition in the Sound in Theory, Sound in Practice symposium derive from this collaborative initiative.
