That’s from Michael Pettis’s blurb for Randy\u00a0Wray’s new book Why Minsky Matters<\/em>, which is now shipping:<\/p>\n

Hyman Minsky’s name has appeared in the popular press a lot\u00a0more since the financial crisis, but often\u00a0without much more elaboration of his ideas\u00a0than a\u00a0paragraph noting\u00a0(to the bewilderment of non-economists) that his economic research stands out because of the way in which it takes into account the significance of the financial sector and the possibility of financial crises.<\/p>\n

And as Wray points out, reading Minsky can be a challenge (though one you won’t regret\u00a0embracing: you can browse through the digital archive of his papers here<\/a>). This book is a guided tour of\u00a0Minsky’s work, covering everything from\u00a0his\u00a0views on\u00a0the inherent\u00a0instability of the financial dynamics of capitalism\u00a0to\u00a0his work on poverty and full employment policies.<\/p>\n
