{"id":12738,"date":"2015-11-04T10:39:16","date_gmt":"2015-11-04T15:39:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/multiplier-effect.org\/?p=12738"},"modified":"2015-11-04T10:40:30","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T15:40:30","slug":"why-minsky-matters-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/multiplier-effect\/why-minsky-matters-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Why Minsky Matters&#8221; Now Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>&#8220;Hyman Minsky is the most important economist since Keynes, yet it&#8217;s virtually impossible to find any books about him.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s from Michael Pettis&#8217;s blurb for Randy\u00a0Wray&#8217;s new book <em>Why Minsky Matters<\/em>, which is now shipping:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Why-Minsky-Matters-Introduction-Economist-ebook\/dp\/B00XNZA8CO\/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&amp;qid=1446475376&amp;sr=8-1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-12741\" src=\"http:\/\/multiplier-effect.org\/files\/2015\/11\/Minsky-Matters-Cover.gif\" alt=\"Minsky Matters Cover\" width=\"200\" height=\"309\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hyman Minsky&#8217;s name has appeared in the popular press a lot\u00a0more since the financial crisis, but often\u00a0without much more elaboration of his ideas\u00a0than a\u00a0paragraph noting\u00a0(to the bewilderment of non-economists) that his economic research stands out because of the way in which it takes into account the significance of the financial sector and the possibility of financial crises.<\/p>\n<p>And as Wray points out, reading Minsky can be a challenge (though one you won&#8217;t regret\u00a0embracing: you can browse through the digital archive of his papers <a href=\"http:\/\/digitalcommons.bard.edu\/hm_archive\/\">here<\/a>).
