Bard MBA in Sustainability’s innovative consulting class NYCLab<\/a> was profiled at this year’s Sustainable Brands<\/a> conference.<\/p>\n

Held in San Diego this past June, the Sustainable Brands conference was an oppurtunty for sustainability business professionals, corporations, and game-changers to come together as a community to “focus on understanding and leveraging the role of brands in shaping a flourishing future”.<\/p>\n

Bard MBA in Sustainability student Meghan Ryan ’14 was interviewed at the conference by Triple Pundit<\/a>‘s Nick Aster\u00a0on her involvement with the program’s year-long\u00a0sustainability\u00a0consulting program called NYCLab. Students in NYCLab are divided into small teams to work with clients ranging from non-profits, for-profits and global companies on social and environmental challenges today’s generation of companies face.<\/p>\n

Ryan’s NYCLab project focused on research and development for Unilever<\/a>, a leading sustainability industry giant, and their quest to find solutions for under electrification in developing markets. The team focused on Ghana as a potential marketable area. They met with Unilever’s own sustainability team, as well as World Bank, United Nations, and other NGO representatives to develop a concrete plan on how to bring various products to market in Ghana’s particular energy landscape.<\/p>\n

Other 2013 Bard MBA NYCLab clients included environmental consulting firm Terrapin Bright Green<\/a>, Metropolitan\u00a0Waterfront Alliance<\/a>, a non-profit waterfront\u00a0advocacy\u00a0group, and the Transit Center<\/a>, who pioneered the commuter benefit of allowing working families to save money on transportation using pre-tax dollars.<\/p>\n
