To apply for a volunteer position, students must follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/hpa-forms\/?page_id=84&amp;preview=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">application process<\/a>. This process is similar to a job application, where the hospital conducts thorough vetting of candidates. Please be aware that this process may take 3-4 weeks to complete. Not every applicant is accepted to volunteer; the hospital will make its own hiring decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Confirmed and selected student volunteers will be able to volunteer on pre-scheduled days and times. If there are students interested in volunteering for the same shift they may be able to do so on a rotating basis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Contacts:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Pre-Professional Health Career Adviser<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lisa Kooperman, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lkooperman@bard.edu<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Nuvance-Northwell Health, NDH Volunteer Coordinator:<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">James (Jay) Glynn, James.Glynn1@nuvancehealth.org<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Transportation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The Career Development Office may be able to provide transportation if the volunteer schedule and availability of drivers align.\u00a0 Alternatively, students will be required to arrange transportation for themselves to the hospital either via private vehicle or to coordinate with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dutchessny.gov\/Departments\/Public-Transit\/Routes-Schedules.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dutchess County Loop<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Route C.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Expectations and Deadlines<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteer Applications must be submitted no later than October 15, unless a volunteer candidate will be available\/in the area during the summer months, (June-August).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteer Applicants who have not completed <em>all steps<\/em> of the volunteer onboarding process* by <em>November 15<\/em> will not be activated.\u00a0 (*Submission of application, interview, reference and background checks, health clearance, in-person orientation.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who have been fully onboarded must begin actively volunteering by no later than 1-to-2 weeks after orientation takes place; typically on or before December 1.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants without a means of personal transportation must be proactive in scheduling rides to and from NDH.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Applicants must consistently commit to volunteering at least <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">three hours per week<\/span>, and volunteer at least <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">three times a month<\/span>.\u00a0 Volunteers may occasionally reschedule a particular shift day and\/or time by notifying the NDH Coordinator of Volunteer Services.\u00a0 (Exceptions will be considered for those volunteers experiencing documented, unexpected and urgent situations.)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteers who are at risk of being deactivated due to a challenge meeting requirements are expected to contact the NDH Volunteer Services Coordinator to discuss a remedial plan-of-action.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteers who are unable to meet requirements, once activated, will not be considered for a future return-to-service, with individual exceptions for extenuating circumstances, as determined by the NDH Coordinator of Volunteer Services.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>James R.
