SUMMARY:Miguel's War with director Eliane Raheb\, in conversation with Sabine El Chamaa
DESCRIPTION:CHRA will be screening Miguel’s War (2021\, 128 min) at Upstate Films\, with director Eliane Raheb in person. The film will be introduced and discussed by CHRA Fellow and filmmaker Sabine El Chamaa. \nEliane Raheb’s hybrid documentary follows Miguel\, a gay man exiled in Spain who returns to Lebanon after 37 years to reflect on his experience growing up during the civil war\, and to remember the relationships that shaped him as a son\, lover\, and soldier.  \nFilmed in Lebanon and Spain\, the film melds documentary\, animation\, theater and archive in order to play with our notions of biography.  \nMiguel’s War premiered in Berlinale 2021 where it won both the audience award and Teddy award. The film also won the Robert Bosch Production Prize and was included in La Fabrique des Cinémas du Monde\, a co-production platform in the Cannes Film Festival. \nFor more information\, please visit the Upstate Films website.
