{"id":422,"date":"2010-09-14T09:31:20","date_gmt":"2010-09-14T13:31:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/arthistory\/?p=422"},"modified":"2010-09-14T11:14:04","modified_gmt":"2010-09-14T15:14:04","slug":"422","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/arthistory\/?p=422","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Summer 2010 &#8211; Miriam Natis<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_432\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-432\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/arthistory\/files\/2010\/09\/Chancellor-Livingston-Grand-Lodge.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-432\" title=\"Chancellor Livingston Grand Lodge\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/arthistory\/files\/2010\/09\/Chancellor-Livingston-Grand-Lodge.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-432\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chancellor Livingston Grand Lodge<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This  summer I worked for the Masonic Library and Museum in the Grand Lodge  of New York. \u00a0It was an interesting experience, working for a  not-so-secret secret organization, especially because I couldn&#8217;t know  some things and wasn\u2019t supposed to know others. \u00a0Despite being a touch  surreal, it was definitely worthwhile. \u00a0I spent my summer in a  temperature controlled room where they house the books and artifacts,  doing inventory. \u00a0I handled artifacts dating from c. 400 CE to the  present, and only cracked the surface of all that needed to be  inventoried. \u00a0I worked for Catherine Walker, the curator of the museum  part of the library, who previously worked at the Natural History  Museum, and if I\u2019ve learned only one thing this summer, it\u2019s the  importance of gloves. <a id=\"internal-source-marker_0.3601806940516332\" href=\"http:\/\/lodgesonline.com\/Lodges\/NY\/1\/Images\/gllogo.gif\"><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/lodgesonline.com\/Lodges\/NY\/1\/Images\/gllogo.gif<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last  summer I worked for Fly 16&#215;9, a digital fashion art magazine. \u00a0It was a  very small production, sharing an office with other companies in an  intimate environment. \u00a0I spent my time photoshopping models, such as the  above, and doing research on the Internet. \u00a0I also gave my input on  videos and interviews they had done. \u00a0It was a much more hands on  experience with the current art world, and gave me a good understanding  of what goes on behind the scenes of popular media.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ozonweb.com\/gr\/files\/2010\/03\/a-face-odyssey.jpg\"><br \/>\nhttp:\/\/www.ozonweb.com\/gr\/files\/2010\/03\/a-face-odyssey.jpg<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summer 2010 &#8211; Miriam Natis This summer I worked for the Masonic Library and Museum in the Grand Lodge of New York. \u00a0It was an interesting experience, working for a not-so-secret secret organization, especially because I couldn&#8217;t know some things and wasn\u2019t supposed to know others. \u00a0Despite being a touch surreal, it was definitely worthwhile.
