Giles Ltd and Westmoreland Museum of American Art.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"css-s99gbd StoryBodyCompanionColumn\">\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<h3 id=\"link-30ca7fdb\" class=\"css-x75iqs e1gnsphs0\">\u2018Simple Pleasures: The Art of Doris Lee\u2019<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/arthistory\/files\/2021\/12\/merlin_198920826_95e1cdde-3c9a-4e1a-afa4-4f53acab173f-superJumbo.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3358 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.bard.edu\/arthistory\/files\/2021\/12\/merlin_198920826_95e1cdde-3c9a-4e1a-afa4-4f53acab173f-superJumbo-273x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"273\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"css-axufdj evys1bk0\">Doris Lee (1905-1983) worked simultaneously as a fine and a commercial artist, illustrating \u201cThe Rodgers and Hart Songbook,\u201d while exhibiting paintings with the still-extant AAA Galleries in Manhattan. The paintings, which combined Grandma Moses with the textured color fields of Milton Avery cheerfully reflect this duality.
