Join us for a national day of action focused around political corruption and climate stalemate. On April 17th, at 7pm EST be part of a nationwide screening of the powerful film The Island President – “as one of the most low-lying countries in the world, a rise of three feet in sea level would submerge the 1200 islands of the Maldives enough to make them uninhabitable.” The film will be followed by a live broadcast with the Director, Jon Shenk (top left), Former UN Deputy Permanent Representative to the Maldives and Co-Founder of voiceofwomen.org, Thilmeeza Hussain, (top middle), and also Executive Director and Co-Founder of 350.org, May Boeve, (top right). The discussion will be moderated by the Director of the Bard Center for Environmental Policy and Bard’s MBA in Sustainability, Eban Goodstein, and is sponsored by The C2C Fellows Network and the The Bard Center for Environmental Policy.
The Island President links the struggle for democracy and human rights with the fight to stabilize the climate. This is the exact challenge facing us right here in the United States. Billions of dollars in fossil fuel money is corrupting our democracy and poisoning the future.
The event registration period is closed. You can still participate independently in our live broadcast at 9pm EST on April 17. To participate join us at www.youtube.com/C2CFellows
A review of the movie is here. We guarantee you will leave the theater both newly cognizant of the scale of the challenge we face, and inspired to be part of the fight for real democracy and a stable climate. Join us! Helpget this film showing in hundreds of venues across the country, and support 350’s “fossil free” divestment campaign that is taking on the fossil fuel companies.

I have a tendency to agree with every aspect that was in fact written in “Democracy, Corruption and Climate Change: A National Conversation April 17,
2013 | The Island President: National Screening!
”. Thanks a lot for pretty much all the information. Thanks,Marquita
The Maldives are not in danger of being submerged by anything sea level is likely to do in the fiorseeable future – please have a quick look at the sea level charts:
