The Portals are multimedia collections covering a variety of issues on drones. We have assembled libraries of audio and video recordings of academic lectures, debates, roundtables, and policy speeches that will introduce our readers to a range of topics, from the history of aviation to counterterrorism strategy. We hope that each portal provides a greater contextualized understanding of the drone, resources for research, and alternative mediums for engaging with these subjects.
All the resources in our Portals are available online for free; in many cases, you can download the audio files from the host website to listen to on the go. We’ve also included accompanying blog posts, quick reads, research papers, and books so that our readers may follow up on these recordings.
You will find that not all of the materials in our portals are strictly on the subject of drones. For example, in our Strategy Portal, we include a podcast on the life and work of military theorist Carl von Clausewitz and a lecture on British strategy in the 1839-42 Anglo-Afghan War. In the interest of making these Portals as comprehensive as possible, we have selected multimedia recordings that we feel both cover elements of theory and history, as well as contain insights into the present and future applications of drones.
The Portals are works in progress. We invite you to suggest sources and perspectives that you’d like to see included, as well as ideas for new Portals.
