The New Faculty Orientation will take place Wednesday, August 24th through Friday, August 26th. We’ll meet from 9:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 9:00 to 3:00 on Friday. If you are joining the faculty in the fall 2016 semester, you will receive additional details over the summer.
The Center for Faculty and Curricular Development offers a range of workshops and other opportunities to help new faculty navigate teaching and research at Bard. Summer workshops (on course design and on teaching writing-rich courses), lunchtime discussions (on topics such as lecturing, teaching close reading, grading, managing class discussion and “hot moments” in the classroom), and evening events (on topics such as promotion, tenure, and grants writing) are but a few of the events CFCD organizes each year.
A number of useful resources for faculty can be found on the Teaching and Advising section of the Dean of the College webpage.
Basic tips for new faculty can be found in the New Faculty Survival Guide
Computing at Bard: Computing at Bard (BITS) offers information on Webmail and other campus computing services, and our Guide to Moodle covers everything you need to add and manage an online component to your course. For support specifically with Moodle, see these instructions.
