Alumni Events Recap

Dear BHSEC Alumni:

If you haven’t made it to an alumni event this school year, you’ve missed out on some exciting opportunities to connect with fellow BHSEC graduates who are doing great things in their academic and professional careers.

Giving Tuesday - Alumni and Bruce

On December 3, 2013, BHSEC hosted the #GivingTuesday Happy Hour. Established as a national day of giving, #GivingTuesday is the answer to Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and general Thanksgiving madness. Through an online campaign, social media presence, and an alumni happy hour representing classes from 2003-2010 we raised over $160. Thank you to those of you who came out to support the schools!

Immediately following #GivingTuesday, we set out to plan January Jam, a refresh of past January Jubilee events, with the voltage turned up. With the gym transformed, and a DJ setting the scene, alumni came ready for a party. In between catching up with former classmates and taking pictures in front of the step & repeat, alumni were treated to performances by Johan Gunawan ’03 and Andrew Stephens ’03, and the BHSEC Manhattan Step Team.

Alumni Band January JamJanuary Jam featured a spread of delicious foods and treats, including BHSEC Manhattan Class of 2013 graduates receiving their long-awaited yearbooks. We even had an alumni art gallery, including paintings displaying the vast talents of BHSEC graduates. 65 alumni attended, from nearly all class years, representing some of best college and universities in the nation.

Thanks to the generosity of alumni in attendance, not to mention their desire to win the iPod Nano raffle, BHSEC raised $337.00 towards the Alumni/ae Fund. Check out the photo album on Facebook, courtesy of Adrian at Dapper Depictions Photography.

As we kick off 2014, I am looking forward to getting to meet and speak with more BHSEC Alumni from Manhattan, Queens, and Newark. Stay tuned for news about our future alumni events and expect the next newsletter from us this summer.

January Jam iPod Winner

Thank you to all BHSEC alumni who responded to our appeals for financial support. It costs millions each year to provide the early college education that we’ve all come to appreciate and every contribution, no matter the size, brightens the future for BHSEC.

Yours sincerely,
